Thank you to everyone who joined us for the virtual tree lighting! It certainly wasn't as magical as when we all can get together and sing carols and drink hot chocolate, but we were very happy to be able to have those who joined us virtually share in the celebration that is lighting the tree for the year. 2021 will just have to be a bigger and grander ceremony to make up for the fact that we couldn't have everyone together this year. We will leave this video up for the holiday season for those who were unable to be with us that day so they can celebrate the lighting with us.
A couple things to note:
We could not have had this celebration without the help of the Cumberland Municipal Utility company. They are the technicians who put up the tree, the lights on their building and throughout town. They also figure out how to get all these lights to come on in spectacular fashion for us during the tree lighting ceremony. It is thanks to them that we even have this to celebrate.
Our small businesses who normally host hot chocolate bars, cookies and coffee and other fun hot snacks during the tree lighting sadly had to miss out on that too this year. We hope to make it up to them during our version of Small Business Saturday on Saturday, December 12th. We are working to put the final touches on this event, so stay tuned to what we will be doing!
The card featured in this video is being sold by Sugar Wood, a local company and Chamber member who creates caramel treats throughout the year and each holiday season, expands on her offerings to include specialty treats. One of the extras made this year was a card to commemorate the tree. Each order from her will receive a card with it, but you can also purchase blank holiday cards to send to friends and family, anyone who loves the Cumberland tree like we do.
