    Cumberland Farmer's Market

     

    Cumberland has long been a community propelled forward by farmers. Over the years, the connection between farmer and consumer has grown distant. Farmer's Markets are a way to bring consumers and producers closer together, reinvigorating the connection between the two.  

  • Snow showers turn to rain, grass turns from brown to green and the sun seems to set a little later each evening. Sure signs that warmer weather is on its' way to stay for awhile. With the warmer weather comes one of my favorite events of the year, farmers' markets.

    Our town has such a great community of local farmers and producers and their talents are showcased every Summer in the parking lot behind the Thomas St. Angelo Cumberland Public Library, otherwise known as the Cumberland Municipal Lot. The market provides fruit, vegetables, home made baked goods and craft items from local people. Once again this year, the market will be held on Saturdays from 8AM to Noon beginning June 20th and running as far into the Fall as possible. The market accepts cash only at this time. 

  • Good News!

    The Cumberland Farmer's Market is looking to add vendors for the 2020 season. We are accepting applications from all types of growers, producers and crafters. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we may not be able to allow certain vendors into the market for this season, but we will keep monitoring the situation and allow as many as possible into the market.

    To comply with the guidelines for this year's market, please note the following restrictions before applying for the market:

    Vendors will be expected to:

    -Not provide samples

    -Not allow customers to handle food products, all items will be bagged by vendor

    -If possible, have a separate person to handle money, otherwise use single use gloves to handle money or wash hands with soap and warm water or use sanitizer between transactions

    -Have appropriate signage that can be read from at least 3 feet away on all products

    -Provide single use bags for customers to carry product out

     

    In return the market promises to provide:

    -A single line of vendor spaces instead of the usual double sided walk through market, with a designated enter and exit spot

    -A hand sanitizing station for vendors and customers at the beginning of the market

    -Increased spacing between vendors to allow for less build up of customers

    -Signage promoting social distancing and rules for the market

     

    In years past, the market has run from the last Saturday in July to the end of September or October, depending on the weather. This year the market is getting an extension, to be run from June to September, pending confirmation of vendor's schedules. We hope to get 15 weeks out of the season, but this can vary due to an early Fall or cold snaps. The times of the market are from 8 AM to Noon every Saturday.

    Prices for Vendor Membership for the 2020 season will be the same as past years, $45 for the season and $10 per Saturday if you are attending less than 5 Saturdays. 

    Each vendor will be held to the rules and regulations set forth by the market, including proper insurance, permits and licenses for selling your products. Copies of these proofs will need to be submitted with your application so we can verify their authenticity before accepting your application and issuing you a spot.
